Contraptions Unleash Debut EP Postmodern Postmortem
Sheffield/Manchester based six-piece Contraptions have just released their debut EP, Postmodern Postmortem, bringing together progressive metal, melodic metalcore and skacore in a broad musical mix and it’s just a little bit fabulous.
We were introduced to the band over the weekend at Bloodstock Festival when chatting to the guys from Redeemon. As someone who loves metal crossovers, discovering skametal was an actual thing and then being introduced to a band so local to us, was a revelation indeed. How on earth have we missed them until now?
The EP was released on 7th August and brings together the band's singles released so far and features an exclusive new song, "Lost and Found", a sprawling nine-minute centre piece that showcases melodic metalcore, progressive arrangements and the energy of skacore.
Their overall sound draws from metalcore, ska, punk rock, hardcore and heavy metal, with brass instrumentation playing an essential role.
Having had a proper listen, this EP delivers - and we're keen to catch the band live soon.
The physical EP comes on a shiny silver CD in a lovely cardboard sleeve with lyric booklet featuring photography and artwork by Seanen Middleton, James Hutton and Goregasmic and is just £5 or you could get the digital album for just £3.
