Catching Up with DEF NEON's Outstanding Album NEONIZE
Before we dive in, a quick note from us.
This feature is long overdue. Towards the end of last year, a truly horrific cold knocked me completely off course, and unfortunately a mountain of fantastic releases ended up delayed or never made it onto the site while we worked our way back through the backlog. NEONIZE was one of those albums, and it deserved far, far better.
Now that I’m in a position to catch up, we're delighted to give it the spotlight it deserves. Simply put, it's an incredible album. If it somehow slipped under your radar when it was released, we highly recommend giving it your time.
North Wales duo DEF NEON released their third studio album, NEONIZE, on 17th October 2025, following the release of lead singles "They All Come Out at Night" and "Drive."
Blending rock, punk, electro and bass music, DEF NEON continue to blur genre boundaries with a collection of songs packed with energy, hooks and attitude. NEONIZE builds on everything fans loved about the band's previous releases while showcasing an even broader musical palette.
It's energetic, inventive and hugely enjoyable from start to finish, with every track bringing something different while still feeling unmistakably DEF NEON.
DEF NEON consists of Emily Gresham on vocals and bass alongside Michael "Mickey" Harmina, who handles guitars, electronics and production duties. Together they have built a reputation for explosive live performances, earning headline shows across the UK while appearing at festivals including Infest Festival, Threshold Festival, Landed Festival and Loopfest.
Fans of the band's self-titled debut and War Beats will find plenty of familiar elements throughout NEONIZE, while the album also offers fresh ideas and further showcases DEF NEON's evolution as songwriters and performers.
