SCHANDMAUL Sail Into a New Era With Sternensegler

SCHANDMAUL are reaching for the stars with Sternensegler (“Star Sailor”), their upcoming album and first full-length release featuring vocalist Till Herence. The album arrives September 11, 2026 via Napalm Records.

Herence first stepped in for SCHANDMAUL during live performances in 2024 after Thomas Lindner had to step back from the microphone due to illness. Lindner remains an active part of the band, moving to instruments as the group enters this new chapter.

Sternensegler opens with “Nimm alles mit” (“Take Everything With You”), followed by the title track “Sternensegler” and “Beide Füße in der Luft” (“Both Feet in the Air”). The latter highlights the harder side of the band while showcasing Herence’s voice.

The album also features “Flag,” which SCHANDMAUL describe as a political statement supporting diversity. “Nosferatu” and “Wo Sprache aufhört” bring a quieter side to the record, while “In der Hand” gives the previously released song with the new frontman a home on the album.

Further into the voyage, “An beiden Enden” (“At Both Ends”) brings sing-along passages, followed by “Lass nicht los” (“Don’t Let Go”) and the love ballad “Trag dich” (“Carry Yourself”). The album closes with “Zwei Raben” (“Two Ravens”), featuring Laura Fella of Faun.

For selected editions, Sternensegler carries additional cargo: a bonus album featuring instrumental harp versions of seven songs alongside the previously released “Räuber und Narren,” SCHANDMAUL’s collaboration with fellow medieval rock band Subway to Sally.

Across its 11 tracks, the album moves between harder moments, calmer passages, sing-along sections, political messaging, romance and folk-rock atmosphere. It is a record built around movement: leaving one harbour behind, finding a new course and continuing forward.

Sternensegler feels like a confident new chapter for SCHANDMAUL, balancing the band’s folk-rock identity with heavier moments, melodic sing-alongs and quieter passages. Till Herence makes a strong impression throughout, bringing plenty of character and energy to tracks such as “Beide Füße in der Luft” and “An beiden Enden,”. From the uplifting opener “Nimm alles mit” to the atmospheric “Zwei Raben” featuring Laura Fella, the album maintains a strong sense of movement and variety. It’s a positive, forward-looking record that shows SCHANDMAUL embracing change without losing sight of what makes their sound distinctive.

The album will be available in a wide range of physical and digital formats, including several limited and mail-order-exclusive vinyl editions, a wooden box, a 2-CD media book with bonus CD, a standard CD and digital album.

Sternensegler sets sail on September 11, 2026 via Napalm Records.
