Firmament Mark a Major Milestone with Ashes & Awakenings EP

Firmament released their debut EP, Ashes & Awakenings, on 30th January 2026, delivering a powerful and confident introduction to the band’s modern metal sound. Supported by the singles “New Tomorrow” and “Cry For The World,” the EP blends crushing modern production with a classic metal backbone that immediately makes its mark.

Rather than being written to a rigid concept, Ashes & Awakenings flows organically from track to track, shaped by the messages within the songs themselves. That sense of momentum is clear from the very start.

The EP opens with “New Tomorrow,” a song about rising up after betrayal and finding the strength to fight back. It sets the tone perfectly, acting as a metaphor for rebirth and genesis and pulling the listener straight into Firmament’s world.

From there, Ashes & Awakenings continues to build with “Through Tempests,” capturing the struggle of pushing through difficult times and driving the EP forward with purpose. “Shadow Game” follows, digging into darker territory and exploring the feeling of being unable to escape the demons that can weigh us down.

That tension carries into “Caged,” a track centered on feeling trapped, a prisoner of your own mind, and the moment when asking for help becomes the only way forward. It serves as a pivotal point in the EP, adding real emotional weight before the finale.

The EP closes on a huge note with “Cry For The World,” an anthemic and impassioned track that pleads with the listener to reflect and change, while serving as a warning that the world as we know it shouldn’t be taken for granted. It’s a strong, lasting finish that brings the journey full circle.

Here at Femetalism, we are genuinely enjoying Ashes & Awakenings. That enjoyment carries straight over into the live setting too, we’ve seen Firmament live a number of times, and their combination of big riffs, soaring twin lead guitar harmonies, and melodic vocals consistently hits hard on stage.

Firmament, Adele (vocals), Dave and Fee (guitars), James (drums), and Phil (bass), celebrated the EP’s release with a launch show on 31st January 2026 at The Chapel in Nottingham, marking an important milestone for a band we’ve loved watching in action both on record and in the room.
