Review: International Women’s Day 2026 at Corporation, Sheffield
There is no better way to mark International Women’s Day than with an eight-band marathon at Corporation. On a day dedicated to representation and talent, the Steel City’s music scene turned up in force, proving that the future of rock and metal is in good hands.
Everything ran perfectly, and the sound and production quality was excellent for every act. It was a fantastic night.
The day kicked off with Echoes of Obsidian, who delivered an intimate acoustic twist on their usual symphonic metal sound. They were the ideal openers, with a laid-back, easy-going set that offered accessible melodies for newbies and in-jokes for fans.
Next up was Blood Lament, stepping onto the stage for her first-ever gig. While the nerves were visible, she channelled that energy into a brilliant debut. With a clear contingent of fans already cheering her on in the crowd, she is definitely one to watch.
Polat was the revelation of the afternoon. Their performance was superb from start to finish. I didn't always know exactly what was going on, but I loved every second of it!
There was a massive sense of anticipation for Burning Bouquet, and they met it with a polished and cohesive performance. They brought a rich, textured alternative-rock sound to the stage that showed a group fully confident in their craft.
Pineapple Bandits delivered the ultimate wild card set, coming in from left field with some high-energy punk. It was a raw burst of energy that took me by surprise!
Bansith were next, and although sadly I only caught part of the performance due to needing to eat. In this stripped-back lineup, Tasha’s vocals were front and centre, confirming exactly why she’s held in such high regard across the city’s music community.
As we moved into the headline slots, Your Personal Vendetta was an absolute spectacle from start to finish. Reminiscent of the style of The Pretty Reckless, they combined acrobatics, powerhouse vocals, and some iconic hat action. It was pure rock-and-roll theatre.
Finally, Not Now Norman were the last to take to the stage. A band named after (and occasionally impersonating) a chicken might not be the traditional Sunday evening expectation, but my god, they delivered. From the first bars of the opening track to the stories shared between songs, I was completely lost in the performance. They are a band that knows exactly who they are and how to command a room. Very impressive!
International Women’s Day is an important date in the calendar, and this gig really felt like a celebration. An absolute blast from start to finish!
